2024 AIB Community €1 Million Fund

Hi Everyone,

We are seeking your help with the 2024 AIB Community €1 Million Fund which closes on the 12th of June 2024. That is next Wednesday. We are asking our followers to nominate the Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre for an award. We will give you the details at the end of this post and if you could share this post with your followers that would be appreciated. You will find the nomination form at aib.ie/community-fund.

Fill out the nomination form with the following details:

1. Your name and email address

2. The charity name and charity registration number Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre CRN 20100346

3. One sentence about the centre: This Centre is voluntary run with help of CE Scheme participants. It is the oldest Cancer Support Centre in Ballinasloe. ( You may put in your own wording if you choose)

4. Select the region your local charity is based in: Connacht

5. Select the social theme under which your charity fits: Other

6. Click submit! That’s it, you have now nominated your local charity*

*Please note: 2022 and 2023 Charites that received funding are not eligible for nomination this year.

The Ballinasloe Credit Union Social Fund is a resource aimed at providing financial assistance and support to projects within our common bond, focusing on social, cultural, or charitable endeavours. Through this fund, Ballinasloe Credit Union aims to foster a spirit of solidarity and mutual aid, embodying the cooperative principles upon which it was founded. Ballinasloe Credit Union has awarded Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre €4000 per over a two-year period to continue their work in providing therapies to those who are affected by cancer.

“This is great news for our Centre. We are so thankful to Ballinasloe Credit Union for their generous funding. It opens new possibilities for us “commented the Chairperson Liam Connaire. He continued; “we are a small voluntary run organisation on small budget this is a tremendous boast to us”.

 

Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre are currently looking for volunteers and volunteer Directors to join our small team.

New opening hours for Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre

The Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre has new opening hours:

Monday: Closed.

Tuesday to Friday: 9am to 2pm.

The Centre offers:

  • Counselling with a qualified psycholigist

  • Massage therapy

  • Reflexology

  • Reiki

  • Indian Head Massage.

Cheque Presentation

Louise Fury, Tuam, presents a cheque for €1265.00 to Liam Connaire, Chairperson, Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre. Louise raised the money when she took part in the Sligo Camino in July.

Reiki To Commence on Friday the 12th of May

Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre affiliated to the Irish Cancer Society are delighted to announce the commencement of our Reiki Therapy service, it will commence on Friday 12th May at our centre in Cullens Yard just off Main Street. It will run from 10.00am to 2.00pm every second week and booking is essential. Information on Reiki can be obtained from our office which is open from 10.00 am to 2.00pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Fundraising

We would like to appeal to all clubs/societies/groups of friends who may be considering running a charity fund raiser event in the coming weeks to consider the Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre.

Established in 2009 the Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre provides emotional and practical support for anyone with a cancer diagnosis as well as their families and carers.

Our aim is to raise €10,000 in the next 6 months to continue providing a service to the people who may require it.
